Last night or maybe it was this morning some time, because it was very vivid, and I can remember it so clearly, I had an awesome dream.
It all started with a bunch of us finding this abandoned mansion. It was unreal. It was humongous and just so regal and beautiful and grand! It was old and abandoned but still in excellent condition and just amazing inside. It was fully furnished and had a ton of stuff in it. Almost like people were living there one day, going about their life like normal, and the next minute they were gone. No packing, nothing like that. Just here one minute and gone the next. And, although this may seem frightening, or like we should have been cautious or concerned or maybe even disturbed by it at all, we weren't. The thought of being scared or uncomfortable there never crossed our minds. We just walked around and looked at things and were talking and in amazement of just how wonderful this place was.
For some reason, we were able to take whatever we wanted from the home, and there were a lot of children's toys, perfect for Trevor, Lauren & Brooke, almost like it was meant to be. We were taking a few things from some of the rooms and putting it by the front door. We were just in-love with the house and the atmosphere. Things just seemed so happy and peaceful there. It was so perfect it was like we were in a fairytale or a movie, and you could almost hear music playing in the background. :)
We found a staircase that we hadn't seen before, or noticed, and we decided to go up the towering marble stairs to see what up there. As we got closer and closer to the top of the stairs, we started to feel a little different. Nothing bad, but nothing we could quite explain. It was actually a wonderful sensation. Like the familiar hug of someone you know and love, but haven't seen in a while. Like that warm feeling you get when you see family you treasure but have been away from for a while. We were all smiling so warmly, and just in a daze. Life felt wonderful. As we reached the top step, we were not "us" any more. Well not the present us, we were the us from before. Like long ago family or distant relatives, we were back in time. We were in the 1900's or earlier. We were all the same people, but in different bodies. It was like these were the people we were before. Like we were them, these people were were now that we were at the top of the stairs, before we were even born to be the people we were in present time. Is this making any sense?? It was like these were our true souls, this was the people we really are. We were these people until we were reincarnated to be who we are now. It was amazing. Again, we weren't concerned or alarmed, we felt like we belonged, and really we did. We hung out a while there were other people over, they were talking and having a good time. We realized that this amazing house was ours and that we were having a pre-holiday dinner party. There were a lot of familiar faces, and people there that it felt like we had known forever. Then we realized that this was all our friends from now. It was like our life was planned out hundreds of years earlier and we were just replaying it now. We started talking to everyone and dancing. We were having the time of our lives. Before, we knew it the party was ending, people started to say good night to us and leave. Eventually the last couple left, and we didn't quite know what to do. We liked being these people in this time, and we were having a blast, but we also realized we had to get back to being us at the present time. We decided to go down the winding stair case and see what would happen with us. As we started to descend the stairs, we were turning back into our old selves. Well actually, we were turning into our present day selves. We were tempted to run back up the stairs and see what would happen again, but we were also in a little bit of disbelief at what had happened. We all decided it was enough for one day, and we took the stuff we had put by the door and left.
All night that night, I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened, how amazing it was, it was like a window to the past, to know who we really are, and what we are like. I barely slept. I'm sure that everyone else felt the same way. I was anxious to go back to the house and see what would happen again if we took the marble stairway. I wanted to know more. I wanted to see more of my life. although it was years ago, there was nothing more to know then the present time.
Finally morning came, and I asked Bryan, did that really happen last night or was I dreaming? He said he didn't know. He couldn't tell. But, if I was talking about getting those wonderful toys for the kids, and seeing that beautiful house then no, I wasn't dreaming that all happened. For a moment I thought had lost my mind. Maybe I had dreamed it all. Maybe I wasn't really there, maybe nothing did happen when we walked the marble stairs. But then just as I was giving up hope, I saw a little twinkle in his eyes, and a smile start to form on his face, and he said if you are talking about the stairs and going back in time, then that wasn't a dream either He said he couldn't believe it either, and all night long he kept questioning what he had really saw and experienced. He couldn't believe it either.
We rushed around and finally got ourselves that the kids ready and fed some breakfast, and we hurried up to get to the house. We were so anxious to see what would happen.
We got there and opened the door, as soon as we walked in, we were both trying to remember where the marble stair case was. We looked around some. The kids were all amazed at what a big house it was and all the beautiful, wonderful things in it.
It seemed like we just couldn't find the stair case again. We were bummed out. We were so let down it was terrible. We wanted to feel that again, feel being back in time, but still being ourselves. We wanted to take our children and show them. We wanted to stay longer this time, and enjoy the serenity of it. How wonderful it was.
We were just going to get a few more things and leave, disappointed, when we found the marbles stairs. We just stood there looking at one another, silently praying that it would work again. We took a first step, and as soon as each of our feet touched that first stair we knew it would work. We felt that warm, familiar feeling again. Like we were home.
Each step brought us closer and closer to that wonderful feeling, when finally we had reached the top of the stairs. We were still amazed and excited the kids didn't even blink. They had just melted right back into being themselves without a second of questioning.
