Up & At Em'

I'm up the kids are up. Trevor is on the bus and off to school. The girls are eating breakfast... in front of the tv in the living room. (I know, bad mommy! bad!) I'm sitting here, stalling. BUT, in my defense, I want to document this move. I have moved a few times... from my parents house to live with my bf after high school, then out of that house to live with friends, then back to my parents house, then out to live with a gf (not that kind of gf! ;) lol) then back to my parents house then moved out to move in with Bryan, then we moved from one house to this house, and now we are moving again but to OUR house!! :) So anyway... lets just say that I have lots of experience packing and moving.
~
But this time is different. This time I have an entire house to pack PLUS three kids and their stuff. I packed an entire house before, but it was easier. I had an extra room to put the packed boxes in and I started a month in advance and had no kids to slow me down. Now I feel like I'm not going to be able to pack the way I want to.
~
I sort of have an idea for a system, in other words, these are my crazy thoughts while I lay in bed at night NOT sleeping thinking about THE HOUSE!
~
Here are my thoughts about how to pack:
  • start with stuff we aren't using now... summer clothes/beach stuff things like that
  • start in the kids rooms (they have a LOT more stuff it seems than we do in our room)
  • go through EVERY. SINGLE. THING. that I'm packing and get rid of things

THINGS TO GET RID OF:

  • clothes that are too small, or don't wear... donate or give to others.
  • toys they have out grown, list on Craig's list, give away or donate
  • broken toys ~ throw out!
  • happy meal toys ~ throw out!
  • things that we haven't used or touched since we moved here 6 yrs ago!!!

BACK TO THOUGHTS ON PACKING:

  • pack clothes, blankets, toys all non-fragile things first
  • LABEL!! LABEL. EVERY. SINGLE. BOX... top and sides!
  • clean this house as I pack things up to help with the last cleaning before we leave
  • pack as many boxes as I have every day that I have boxes

So these are my thoughts for now about packing. My mom and Bryan are worried I'm getting over my head with packing... no pun intended! ;) I think of it as I HAVE to start now!! There is no other choice! Bryan even said to me last night that he is thinking maybe we could be in the new house by November 1st!! NOVEMBER FIRST PEOPLE!!! I'm excited!! ... but!! I have an entire house to pack up!! I think there is no other way to get all this done the way I want to do it... organized, sorted out and cleaned then to pack every. single. minute I have free from doing other things toward the move.

I'm off to pack!! :)

This time...

This time tomorrow... we will be on the road! yay!!

I am excited to go. We are going camping. We have a new camper, we go it last year but it is a 2008. It makes camping with three children a lot more reasonable and FUN!!

We did the whole tent thing... we even did it with THREE kids... we set it up... it RAINED and poured and the wind was terrible. We stood outside in the pouring rain, with the wind making it BEAT on us like bee bees and tried to hold our tent together so it wouldn't get wet.

It got wet.

We were obviously soaked.

We set everything out to dry and cleaned up the mess.

Everything dried. We put it all back in. We had a good night. All three kids slept pretty well.

We camped we had fun. We had another storm the third night there.

It rained, it poured the wind was horrible.

We stood in it and tried to hold our tent together so it wouldn't get wet.

IT. GOT. SOAKING WET.

A - G - A - I - N !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were cold and soaking wet again too!

It was NOT FUN!!

We got it all dried out and dried up. Put everything back in and it went well. The kids slept well and we had a good camping trip! :)

The next year....

We... BOUGHT a camper!! YAY!! now this is really FUN!!! :)

I love it. You can pack stuff and leave it packed... when we camped in the tent I had to constantly pack and un-pack EVERYTHING we took each time... now we have things that are just for camping that stay in the camper.

BUT... there is still packing, cleaning and organizing... all of which I'm supposed to be doing ...

RIGHT. NOW!!

I have some of it packed... and some of it cleaned... like 1/300th of it... done. Yeah. Not looking too good. Especially not with me sitting here at the computer. UGH!!

Worse part of all is that my kids... yeah those little cuties that I always talk about... they are BEING the BEST BEHAVED children in the entire UNIVERSE!! I swear. They have been playing so nicely with one another and watching some Disney Channel and eating cookies and drinking milk... so I should be getting EVERYTHING done lickity split...

NOPE.

I'm sitting here procrastinating ... MAJORLY!!

I suck.

I'm getting up.

I have to.

Bryan will be home at 3 and we have to go get groceries.

I think we are also getting some company later. I'm not sure.

I have 299% more to go with cleaning packing and organizing the house and the camper.

alright...

here. I. go.

Hitting publish... then getting up off my duff and doing something... I might be back to let ya'll know what I actually got done and the world record speed I didn't do it in. :)

have a great weekend all.

xoxoxo

Recap...

Here is a recap of the last few weeks, I'll be fairly brief... but you all know me, that isn't easy. : )
So.... lets see. The last post I did was on August 10th... well on the 10th, it was a Friday, we went grocery shopping. Yeah, I know this is what my Friday nights have come down to... a BIG night out to the grocery store with the whole family. YIPPEE... but we did go to dinner first, so I guess that makes it a little bit better. We were still getting everything ready and set for our big camping trip to Connecticut!! Everyone was pretty anxious... well the adults at least and my 11 year old nephew... my kids didn't really understand or know what was going on. Trevor, even told us that he rather stay home with uncle Ralph (my brother) then go with us. He didn't mean it in a way that staying with uncle Ralph would be bad, and going would be worse.. he just thought he would have a good time with uncle Ralph and not such a good time camping. : ) The mind of an almost 4 year old. But, anyway, back on track. Saturday we hung out all day, and packed stuff in the camper, although I had been packing all week. I packed everyone's clothes, and some junk. Bryan got all the bigger things ready, the grill and chairs, kids little picnic table and bikes. Sunday, we had a birthday gathering for my mom's birthday. Her actual birthday was on the 14th... Tuesday, but she would be in Connecticut, with me and my brother Ryan and everyone, but Ralph and Jamie and Julie wouldn't be there, so we had a gathering on Sunday. It was a surprise. : ) I made some angel food cupcakes and some loafs of angel food cake too.. they came out really good. I used my new silicone bake ware. LOVE IT!! Cools fast, cooks well, easy to clean up!! : ) I also had cut up some strawberries and they were marinating in their own juice so they would be really yummy with the angel food cake. I also had some really, really good blueberries, and I'm not usually a blueberry fan. I find them mostly tart and or not a pleasant taste... but these were really tasty. We also had some Cool Whip topping for the cake and fruit, and some vanilla ice cream on the side! It was YUMMY!
Okay, then we came home from that... well let me rewind some... after some cake and all that... we were outside hanging out and the boys went in the pool... by boys I mean, Trevor, Matthew and Bryan... they had a good time. : ) The little girls ran around playing and happy... and the rest of us just sat around and talked... it was nice. : )
We came home, got the kids in for mini naps, and started dinner and packed some more. It was a good day. : )
Monday... August 13th The Departure Day!
(I'll be back with more, I have to put some girls in the bath... )

~ Hi. Glad you stopped by. Come on in, kick off your shoes, put your feet up relax, grab a drink and stay a while. ~
